Basic Obedience Commands
 |
Basic obedience is the foundation of all dog training. Every
companion animal and service dog, including, assistance dogs for people with disabilities,
police, search and rescue, as well as a family pet, needs basic training. Basic obedience
training is the best way for you to build a leadership role with your dog in a positive
manner. |
Here is a partial list of BASIC COMMANDS that your pup will be learning in our class:
 | Heeling ( walking at the handlers left side)
|
 | Automatic Sit
|
 | Sit Stay (handler out of dog's sight)
|
 | Down and Stay (under distraction)
|
 | Recall (coming when called)
|
 | Finish (return to heel)
|
 | Down From a Distance
|
 | Stand for examination (useful for grooming).
|
Socialization
To have a dog that is secure and reliable under distraction there is no substitute for
class instruction. A big part of training is helping your pup learn self control around
other animals, people, and different situations that arise. Our classes are designed to do
this. We have helped pups of all temperament types become confident and obedient
companions.
Behavior Issues
Unless you speak fluent dog, more than likely you will experience some form of
unwanted behavior with your pup. Our job is to help you understand what is going on from
the pups perspective and what you can do to modify or eliminate these behaviors and how to
establish the more acceptable behavior in a positive manner.
Using the appropriate training equipment is important. It can mean the difference
between complete or partial success of your dog's training. Upon meeting and evaluating
your dog we will discuss training equipment options available and talk about which type of
training equipment is best suited for your dog's temperament.
One way to secure a space in a specific class is to print out the class registration form, fill it out, and return it
to us with a deposit. (Normally, 1/2 the total class fee.) Upon receiving your
registration form and deposit we will contact you to schedule a first time meeting. Or you
may call us at (916) 781-3647 to speak to a training consultant.
See schedule for upcoming class dates and times.
